This commercial was entered into the DORITOS GURU contest. This was 1 of 5 commercials we made for this contest. Only 2 were entered on time. We did not win but we did it more for the experience and exposure. I have to get the consent from DORITOS to upload these 5 commercial onto D.A.S. Productions YouTube Page.
The Rules for the contest:
The contest was to not only to invent a name for there mystery chip brand, with a question mark on it but a skit as well. It had to have a happy ending, be 30 seconds, and had to make sure we weren't advertising anything else within the footage. It didn't even give us time for credits. Not that you normally see credits in a commercial. Oh, and add some of the goodies they featured on their website which had some special effects and music, songs and sound effects. It was an interesting challenge taking all the footage we had and fit it within a 30 second time frame. I'm hoping with the consent, we will then upload our unedited version of all the skits, as well as the 30 second versions.
Background for this particular commercial:
The original idea was Martin. The concept was to have a guy that goes around stealing other people's chip. It was an idea that was created for the sole purpose to be able to make other commercials off of one concept, putting the Chip Junkie in different scenarios. After reading all the terms and conditions, they didn't want the promotion of negative activity. In other words, it was morally not a good idea to have some one stealing and getting away with it.
After reading that, we had to go and make an alternative ending making the Chip Junkie lose in the end. To which we added the scene where I steal the chips back. I partially think that's why we didn't win. "Two wrongs don't make it, right." Right? The people that did win. They did an excellent job. It was a very unique idea. After entering ours, I noticed that many people had the stealing chip idea. So that's pretty much the background. Once Doritos gives us consent, I'll upload the video on YouTube and then link it to this blog site, MySpace, Twitter, and we have a group on Facebook, through, Martin's page.
Enjoy!
All the best!
